A week and a day remain before the big day!
Before I begin, I thought you might like to see this Daily Freeman article. Bonnie Langston, the reporter who interviewed me, was a really nice woman and I feel that this article probably got a lot more people aware that the Expo is happening.
As I repeat in many places throughout this website: If you feel the burning desire to help out (and who doesn’t?), the best possibly way is to tell everyone you know! Tell them to come to the Expo, tell them about the free food, entertainment, and great opportunities to learn that will be there. Tell them to check out this website! Do it by email, phone, word-of-mouth, even by hanging up posters.
Today I will be picking up a large amount of blank tee-shirts to be printed and sold at the Expo. Also, students at the Woodstock Day School and the Woodstock Elementary School have very kindly (and awesomely) decorated about 400 shopping bags from the Sunflower Natural Foods market. The bags will be going back to Sunflower in the near future and will be used for shopping. Keep an eye out for more blog entries with photos of the awesomely decorated bags.
It’s still up in the air, but a company called CRT Recycling Inc. may be coming to the Environmental Expo to pick up hazardous household waste. This is a great opportunity for all you folks who want to get rid of obsolete computers, monitors, televisions, cell phones, iPods, or any other electronic parts that would otherwise contaminate landfills with lead. There may be a small (under $10) fee to drop off items. I’ll keep you updated as things progress.
