The first Environmental Expo took place in the Woodstock Community Center, Woodstock, NY, on February 4th, 2006. It was a big success: more than 500 people attended, and had the privilege of learning about 22 local Environmental organizations. The Expo was planned and organized as an Eagle community service project for a local Boy Scout from Troop 7, Max Edmands.

Our world is entering a period of urgency because of the status of the environment. We all need to take steps together to make the world more healthy and sustainable. The Environmental Expo is one of those steps: It’s a way to educate everyday people about their environment and about ways to take initiative to help improve it. Not many people know about the abundance of easy, inexpensive, and fun ways to do their part in supporting environmental sustainability. Come to the Environmental Expo and you will learn, be inspired, hear good music, and probably end up eating something.
The world is one big organism living in a vast ecosystem. Just like a living thing, it can be injured, poisoned, and destroyed. Although this seems like an impossible global problem, we must realize that the only way to solve it is to work locally. By each changing our personal habits, family habits, and community habits, we can all make a difference. Truly, it’s the only way; the “global level” is just made up of lots of little “local levels!”
